WilderNZ (“we”, “us”, “our”) is committed to protecting your privacy in accordance with the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020, including the Privacy Amendment Act 2025 which introduces Information Privacy Principle 3A (IPP3A) from 1 May 2026. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, how we use it, and your rights under New Zealand law.

1. What information we collect
Information you provide directly
When you interact with WilderNZ, you may provide personal information including:

Information from third parties (IPP3A disclosure)

- Google Search Console — provides search performance data. This is aggregated and does not identify individuals.
- Affiliate networks (Awin, Commission Factory, AvantLink, Amazon Associates) — may provide click and conversion data when visitors click affiliate links on our site. This data is used to calculate commissions and is subject to each network’s own privacy policy.
2. How we use your information
We collect and use personal information only for lawful purposes, consistent with IPP1 of the Privacy Act 2020. Specifically, we use your information to:
- Send you the newsletter or packing list you requested
- Respond to enquiries submitted through our contact form
- Understand how visitors use our site so we can improve our content

Your personal information is stored on servers located in the Asia-Pacific region through our hosting provider (Hostinger). We take reasonable steps to protect your information from unauthorised access, including SSL encryption on all data transfers to and from wildernz.com.
We retain your personal information only for as long as necessary for the purposes for which it was collected. Email subscribers’ information is retained until you unsubscribe. Contact form submissions are retained for up to 12 months.
6. Your rights under the NZ Privacy Act 2020
Under the Privacy Act 2020, you have the right to:
- Access — request a copy of the personal information we hold about you
- Correct — request correction of any personal information that is inaccurate or out of date
- Object — object to your information being used for direct marketing
- Complain — make a complaint to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner if you believe we have breached the Privacy Act

7. Third-party links
WilderNZ contains links to external websites including affiliate partner sites (Macpac, Booking.com, Haka Tours, Amazon, and others). Once you click through to a third-party site, this privacy policy no longer applies. We recommend reading the privacy policy of any site you visit. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of third-party websites.
8. Children’s privacy
WilderNZ is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

We may update this privacy policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or in applicable law. The “last updated” date at the top of this page will reflect any changes. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
